I burnt the toast.
Forgot to watch;
Blackened smoke,
Nearly choked.
Silly me
Forgot to watch;
I burnt the toast,
Nearly roast.
Silly me
Forgot to watch
Burning bread
Almost dead.

This short poem was long listed in the Bridport Prize 2006
It was inspired by a real life incident. This short poem was based in truth! Who would have thought that those few short verses would have had any impact! But they did! The Bridport Prize is wonderful competition for everyone!
Lol!!!! So good. πππ Wow that is so awesome that it got long-listed!!! I’m going to burn some pizza now and see what comes out creatively. ;))) ππ₯ππβοΈ

When this happened my husband was taking our eldest son out for a walk. As they were coming back down our road our son said to my husband, ‘Oh look…the firemen are down there!’ As they got closer, they realised the firemen were entering our house. I had been dealing with my then two year old son and had got distracted and the grill/cooker went up in flames and the next door neighbour rang 999 for the fire brigade. After that incident the family bought me a toaster π that said, I still burn toast in the toaster lol! π xoxoxo

Oh. My. God. !!!!! So it was actually very, dead, serious… the judges must have sensed that. That is actually very cool. I mean hot. But not in a funny way. :)) Ok I will definitely keep an eye on the pizza now. π And by the way, I’m so glad it worked out okay. (Understatement.) ππ
